Jobstreet: fresh grads find it hard to make ends meet

Folks,

Yesterday, Jobstreet released the results of their online survey of 2,602 fresh graduates across various industries in Malaysia.

The findings were shocking, and let me summarize for you below:-

  • 66% employers are willing to pay starting monthly salary of up to RM2,800;
  • 63% of respondents said that they spend an average of RM1,500 for essential things like transportation costs;
  • Nearly 50% of the fresh graduates live with their parents, some 30% rent-out with friends and a mere 20% choose to stay on their own
The survey further conclude that "To cope with the increasing cost of living, it is no surprise that fresh graduates are always on the lookout for a new job with a higher salary. This creates the high turnover experienced by companies who hire fresh graduates."

Sad. But that is the reality.
